Gritty synopsis: Hot popular possessed girl (w/ superhuman powers) vs. Nerd best friend (w/ power of repartee)
Guess who wins?
The movie starring my guilty pleasure, Megan Fox, was surprisingly pretty entertaining. Definitely a leave-your-brain-at-the-door movie. But who really goes into a movie, starring Megan Fox, expecting a Schindler's list performance/storyline/anything?
Adam Brody brought his Seth-esque wit, Amanda Seyfried brought the emotion, and Megan Fox brought the Intellect. And by Intellect you know I mean T&A. Entertainingly self-aware, not-so-dark dark comedy. & it may get you jumping, just a little, in your seat.
Straight up: 3.5 Megan fox make-out scenes out of 5
off the album
Through the Trees- Low shoulder
Kiss with A fist - Florance and the Machine
Teenagers- Hayley Williams (paramore)
Finishing School - Dashboard Confessional

Mix monday: emo throwback
Today's Mix Monday is dedicated to a time where Taking back Sunday, My Chemical Romance and The Used monopolized my mix CDs. Where a misguided Steph would write ridiculously maudlin lyrics on her msn name and think this was socially acceptable. A terrible terrible time to dwell upon, but that was so 5 years ago and I soooo haven't done the msn thing since then.
Brand New, they still hold the title of favorite band in my heart.
Really loved the dramatics of My Chemical Romance back then. Their current music, not so much. I want to use the word revolting for their newer stuff but that might be a little to strong. Or maybe that's just the word that would best describe my contempt for their current fanbase... Or both
My Chemical Romance - Helena
My Chemical Romance - This is the best day ever
Like MCR The Used fed my need for melodramatics in my music. It also sounded cool to respond with "let it bleed" or "bury myself alive" when people asked what I was listening to, or so I thought. stupid emo kid.
The Used - Bury myself alive
The Used - Let it bleed
House of heroes, their music styling are far from special but felt it important to add them because they came highly recommended by me 5 years ago.
House of Heroes - Serial Sleepers
House of Heroes - Buckets for Bullets
Who didn't listen to Taking back sunday?
Taking back Sunday - Mosh pt II
Taking back Sunday - Ghost Man on third

Mix Monday: guilty pleasures pt 2
Bringing back the mix Monday because I can. And just like the first mix monday on a side order of style, it's all about the guilty pleasures.
Megan Fox: A lot of people hate on this bitch. Which is totally understandable because her acting is pretty blasé and she just gushes with annoying whenever she opens her masticating sphincter. But I love how she photographs... kind of as simple as that.
Empty Train cars: Hardly happens but when I find myself in one I never let it go to waste. I go all out, singing, pole dancing, hell once I stole an ad just because I could.
Taylor Kitsh: Watched X men origins: Wolverine. A lot of people hate it, especially with the fuck up that is Gambit in that movie. But I mean you don't have to be the amazing kreskin to see this coming. If you've seen the 3 other xmen movies with characters stories being messed up what would make you think they'd stop to make it all right with Gambits character? So when I watched the movie, I totally mellowed out to the hotness that is Taylor kitsh (and topless hugh jackmen) to make the experience just that more bearable.
Filipino Soaps (aka Telanovelas): Currently jobless = lot of time on my hands. So i've been really into these filipino dramas, and I mean this is really bad. I totally would make fun of my mom for watching this since like half of the episode consists of a recap of all the previous episodes and whats going to happen in future ones. Not to mention the really bad fight scenes where the lead characters fist lands no where near the oponents face and yet he's found unconscious in the hospital for a month.
Leighton Meester: I hate when actors think they're singers and vise versa. With Leighton Meester being the exception , loving her in Gossip girl and her music. I'm totally reaching right now and have no clue who else I approve of doing both... except some of my filipino telenovela soap stars.
Birthday - Awesome New Republic Ft. Leighton Meester
Sneaky swearing: Especially in songs, out of no where you get a sneaky f bomb. It gives me the case of the happies singing it outloud.
Find the f bomb in sleepwalking - Faker
Lost boy - The subways
Time stops - Teenage fanclub
Know it all - Phantom planet
This heart's on fire - Wolf parade
Hours - TV on radio
Shadow land - Youth group

The Princess and the Frog
I know this just proves how much of a girlie girl I am, but I can't deny that I'm intrigued. Disney's coming out with a new hand-drawn princess film later this year, and just hearing about it got me excited. It's a musical, of course, and is set in 1920's New Orleans so it might be interesting to see Disney music take on a more jazz feel. I'm choosing to ignore the hype/bashing for the film being called "the first black Disney princess"because well, I just miss "classic" Disney. I sure hope this one pulls through and impresses...

Style Crushes
What is a style crush you may ask? I looked it up on Urbandictionary.com in hopes of providing a basic defintion, but alas, the entry does not exist! I was actually pretty shocked, and now I'm thinking of adding one myself.
Anyway, I'm sure we all have style crushes. Basically, a person to have a style crush on is someone with a sense of style you adore whom you often don't know personally. If you ask me, I find that it's impossible to stop glancing at someone who looks impeccably dressed. They may be someone who just has a style that you don't see on people, who just seems to wear everything well, who has the guts to pull off pieces you'd really like to, or even a person who looks like they walked out of a page from The Sartorialist or Facehunter.
I myself have a continual style crush on this girl in my program a year above me who I spotted last year. Don't get me wrong, she doesn't dress like she's walking off a runway or anything. But everything she wears is just so...effortlessly stylish. I'm in search of a nice, inexpensive men's dress shirt to replicate her common look of an oversized men's button-up with plain black tights. Not leggings, tights. I guess it's hard to describe, and I'm not really about to go up to her and take a picture haha. I ALSO have a girl crush (basically the same thing, except it pertains to taste in books, movies and music as well in someone who happens to be a girl) on my really good guy friend's ex-girlfriend. She's just really cute, and seems fun, PLUS she dresses all cute to boot.
Tell me about your style crushes! :)

Shopping Addictions...

Boots - Costa X, Regular Price $55, purchased on sale for 50% off
Dress - American Apparel Double U-Neck Dress, Retail $35
Sweater - Urban Behaviour, Regular Price $30, purchased on sale for 50% off
Tights - Winners (?)
Steph persuaded to take these photos and create an outfit post. And, due to my lack of contribution to the blog of late, I obliged. Apologies for the bad quality + lack of editting - my Photoshop has sadly gone awry.
So about that shopaholic disease. I KNOW Costa and UB aren't of the greatest quality, but I couldn't resist. And well, my credit card bill paid for my lack of restraint. Basically, my friend at work took her break before me and came back from Urban Behaviour spending $150, to which I vowed to spend far less, a max of $50.
BUT THEN, I went into the store and couldn't resist. How often do you find multiple decent sweaters for less that $20?! And plus, everything fit in with my "winter uniform" (the outfit that I seem to be wearing all winter) - tights, boots, dress, sweater. Needless to say, when the bill came up to just over $110, I was mildly shocked. Unfortunately, the next day Costa X had their 50% off sale. You think I would learn from the day before, but no. I ended up spending both my breaks combined (a half hour, and 15 minutes) waiting in line to get into the store, waiting for a size, and then waiting in line to pay. Don't get me wrong, as cheap (quality) as they are, I love my new boots. I guess this is just the price of working in a mall. I just wish they were a pair of Manolos or something...

i`d make a worthy adversary, i`m sure.
in my attempts to TRY finishing the last bit of homework for the semester, i "stumbled" onto lookbook this morning (see how coherent i am?) & found these beautiful beautiful stylish men!
aren`t they hot? aren`t they? *squeeing a little*
i found this awesome & hilarious, as i was wearing just about the EXACT same thing on friday - except my hat is a bright turquoise, & i was wearing dark blue jeans, & my bag is faux-suede & faux-shearling.
(1)these boys are hawt.
(2)this boy must share the same inspirations as me when it comes to dressing. hence, he is hawt.
(3)so is this boy.
i sorely wish to be best friends with a supremely stylish boy, who will indulge me by allowing me to steal parts of their wardrobe to add to my own, but who will also steal parts of my wardrobe because it just fits their aesthetic so.
anyone know where to find me a friend like that?
kisses&squee;

ps. the title of this post has nothing to do with the post itself.

Mix monday: Andrew McMahon
So I'm hyperventilating thinking about seeing Andrew McMahon live this Thursday with Megs. I've been on a cleansing diet of only Something Corporate and Jack's mannequin for days now. I can totally imagine me being one of those fat girls crying in the crowd in utter awe of meeting one of their idols, like one of those moms at a Clay Aiken concert. This frightens me so, but I can only imagine Megs trepidation of having me beside her.
So when I first heard "Glass Passenger", Jack's mannequins newest release, I kind of loathed it. I found it to be sub-par and not as raw, as I was use to from Something Corporate, and not as catchy as Jack's mannequins previous album "Everything in Transit". Yet after a couple more skims I came to see how beast epic the new album really is. I mean he pretty much left SoCo because he was writing songs that didn't suit the band any longer yet I found comfort in "Everything in Transit" since it had traces of SoCo woven in most songs. I just had to get use to his further departure from SoCo in glass passenger & when it comes down to it, the newest album is as raw and in depth (if not more) as the good ole SoCo days and as catchy as Everything in transit.
Now to the mix! Tally-ho!
North
Break Myself - Something Corporate
The Runaway - Something Corporate
Everything in Transit
Dark Blue - Jack's Mannequin
Into the airwaves - Jack's Mannequin
Glass Passenger
Lullaby - Jack's Mannequin
Bloodshot - Jack's Mannequin

it's love.
Confession: I love Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen.
I'm sure everyone knows by now that the twins have an impeccable sense of style. The pint-sized fashion icons are not only gorgeous, they're also multi-million dollar media moguls in their own right. And how cool is that?
It's been a long love affair. I've followed them from Full House, to their direct-to-video movies, to their various television series. So Little Time = classic. Seriously.
And then, all of a sudden, they were being photographed around NYU in long bohemian skirts carrying gigantic Starbucks cups. It was love.
Love, love, love.
Since then, they evolved into fashion industry execs. Their fashion lines "The Row" and "Elizabeth and James" are amazing, but I'm completely biased. Have a look for yourself.
The Row is high-end, and headed primarily by Ashley. The promo is pretty old, and I can't find information that's very current, but even still, the line is just amazing. I adore the versatility and simplicity, but the fact that it's still edgy and incredibly fashionable is just brilliant to me.
Words cannot express my adoration, seriously. I promise you there will be more MKA love to come.
Love from the absolutely awestruck,
Megs

Mix monday: Country style
Yeah, this is a coming out post. I have recently admitted to myself that I like country. or at least the country music from true blood.
This is pretty big, I mean I was scared, but I've come to terms with the genre. Before you run off to find something to throw at your screen, check these songs out, all music featured on true blood.
And if those songs just aren't your cup of tea. Perhaps you can appreciate them better after watching it in context in HBOs new series TRUE BLOOD. (can you tell that I'm totally obsessed?) I have successfully lured Nat-attack into this addiction. But I swear the show sells itself. Yes this is pretty much deja vu to my guilty pleasure post, radical ranting concerning my outré facination with vamps, what can I say? But check it out for yourself, get linked to a full episode from sidereel or check the trailer on youtube.

slight obsession.
can we really call it 'slight' still?
see, it all started with ROCKBAND.
my character, lovingly named jae (after moi!), looked exactly like a thinner version of me in every little bit. with layered black hair, pouty lips, winged eyeliner & a mean-looking double-necked guitar (which i don`t actually possess...to my chagrin), she was exactly like me.
except she lacked one thing.
standing there in the rock shop, looking fierce as a tiger, she was almost exactly me except she wore no glasses.
:O
to rectify this, i ran to the accessories section of the shop & tried on a dozen different kinds of glasses on her. i liked them all. so i spent hard-earned cash, money i had played a dozen gigs for, just to buy her all the glasses & sunglasses that she could ever want or need.
it was at that moment that i decided that, like my character in rockband, i could use glasses as accessories for myself.
after all, why not?
unlike most people who are FORCED to wear glasses & hate them, i love them! prescription or not, glasses are actually a lot more fun for me than they are for others. & more so when i would slip my contacts into my eyes & then be able to wear sunglasses too...i figured, why stop at sunglasses? why not collect a gamut of other glasses, non-prescription & lensless, to fill out my glasses-wardrobe ?
this is just the beginning of it, i`m sure.
to begin :
[WITH LENS: from top to bottom (newest to oldest) : black & pink non-prescription glasses, from ardenes ; eggplant & blue prescription glasses, from woodside optical.]
[SUNGLASSES: from top to bottom (newest to oldest) : black wayfarers, from ardenes ; golden aviators, from bluenotes ; silver aviators, from blue notes ; leopard-ish print wayfarers, from bluenotes ; trusty old black sunnies, from ricki`s.]
[LENSLESS GLASSES: from top to bottom (newest to oldest) : black, from dollarama ; blue, from dollarama ; grey, from dollarama ; giant-buggies (used to be sunglasses), bluenotes ; purple + rhinestones, lost-&-found @ camp.]
the lensless ones are the best. everyone talks about them because...well..until you look closely, they don`t look like they`re lensless. i love them. they`re almost controversial. plus, i am planning on getting non-prescription lenses put in them. it`s amazing. & the best part is...most of the frames i have were only about a dollar from the dollar store. super cheap, yes, but also means i can buy a lot more.
when popping lenses out of glasses, do it from the inside to the out. that is, put your thumbs on the side of the glass/plastic that would be closest to your eyes if you were wearing them, & then push out. it`s easier, apparently. it takes a bit of practice, but it`s well worth it.
also remember that the lower the prescription, the thinner the lens, thus the easier it is to remove the lens.
HOW TO WEAR LENSLESS GLASSES
rock them. just plain & simple...rock them. wear them like you mean it. if people ask, don`t hesitate to tell them where you bought them. don`t hesitate to show them that they`re frames. if they try to poke your eyes, reach out & poke theirs first!
ignore the haters who will tell you that only wannabes wear lensless glasses. after all, the same argument could be used that only sailors like nautical clothes, that only debs like pearls, that only dominatrixes wear sky-high stiletto boots, etc.
yeah. in my book, it is definitely cooler than cool to rock lensless glasses.
after all, not everyone can pull off glasses. so if you can, why not?
kisses,
jae :)
[ps: i closed up my livejournal & opened up my own personal blog. it can be found here! (clickyclicky)
please note that i will be working on both this blog & ABOJ, not abandoning one for the other.]

"i want something else to get me through this."
we are quickly hitting the end of this wonderful time period we call summer-time. was it really four months ago that we were celebrating the end of our examinations?
i guess it has been.
well, with fall comes many things : school, homework, job-searching for a part-time job that fits just right into the schedule, theme tuesdays, thrifting, more blog posts written during class instead of taking notes...
today, i give you...outfit pictures! i know, it`s exciting to finally see photos.
they`re not much; my outfit was pretty plain, but the dress i was wearing made me feel pretty thin (when i wasn`t wearing the sweater) (i should have taken photos without the sweater, but it never occurred to me...) because the waist hit just so right where the thinnest bit on my torso is, and my belly fat was hidden by the skirt.
so there it is, in all it`s glory. the bag is the awesome eggplant coloured one that i posted about before. i`m still in love with it.
i cut my feet out of the photo because i wasn`t wearing shoes (in the house, we aren`t allowed to) - i wore my green shoes with the one-inch hidden wedge. i`m not big on wedges regularly, but these shoes look like they`re flats so it`s all good.
close up on the bottom of the skirt, so you can see the cute little flowers. i love the colours on the skirt.
[flowery dress, stitches outlet; yellow v-neck sweater, forever21; black belt, value village; eggplant convertible bag, pacific mall; green shoes (not pictured), payless shoes.]
meanwhile, in my dorky quest to have those crazy lensless glasses that all the hipsters & cool kids have, i have mutilated a crazy pair of sunglasses that look horrible on me as sunglasses. i`ve injured myself trying to pop the left lens out. the right lens came out pretty darn easy. anyhow, if i wear them as they are right now (the lens is still in on the left eye), i look like a pirate. ARRRH.
i must note that i look quite happy in that photo. for a photo taken at 4AM, i wonder why.
[sunglasses, bluenotes outlet.]
i vow i will get the lens out sometime soon.
sunglasses & glasses are really becoming a sort of guilty pleasure for me...
[edit added @ 9:52PM, just quite some time after the post was originally posted]
i got the lens out! & now that they`re out...
can`t resist posing with them!
looking like an inquisitive little asian. love my hood :) makes the hipster, scene cool thing so much more realistically hipster & scene.
burst out laughing while taking the photo, because i could see how ridic i look. yes, ridic - DEFINITELY something my hipster cool friends would say.
more inquisitive asian coming through!
i know some people hate the word 'hipster', equating it with 'try-hard' - but i love it. bahaha don`t ask.
people also hate that i love glasses, especially those people who have to wear them because their eyesight is bad.
let me clear something up: my eyesight is bad too. i wear prescription glasses, & with my non-prescription glasses, lensless glasses & sunglasses, i HAVE to wear contacts or else risk injury. i just love the way glasses look on me. i think they look good on me. so say what you want, but i love it.
& i know, i usually hate buying into the 'in thing', & so these lensless glasses should really be something i shy away from - for a while, i did - but now i just love it because it`s a convenient way to change things up.
on an extra note; my family is COMPLETELY used to me being weird & kooky. they did not even bat an eyelash at the lensless glasses, even though i have never worn them before. my sister didn`t even notice til i pointed them out.
apparently, i`m always wearing something slightly questionable. they`ve learned to phase out the shock.
hm. what would get them, do you think?
as mentioned earlier, the return of school marks one certain thing in particular that we here at SOS love...
THEME TUESDAY!
for those of you who don`t know (or can`t remember, considering the last theme tuesday was AGES ago...), theme tuesday is a weekly challenge for everyone - yes, that includes YOU, dear readers! we challenge each other & ourselves, as well as accept challenges from other people, to dress in a certain way on tuesdays.
next week`s theme tuesday, in honor of school starting again (here in toronto, where we SOSers live, we start school after the first monday in september), is quite simple:
PINK must be the central colour of the outfit, & the shoes may not be BLACK, GREY, or WHITE. (FOR THIS CHALLENGE ONLY, flip flops will be ALLOWED as footwear. but usually, they aren`t.) relatively easy, non? it`s a starter into everything. besides, pink is a colour of happiness! we should all be happy theme tuesdays will be back!
again, as always, i extend the offer to everyone to send in their photos or a link to their blogs or flickrs where the theme is being fulfilled.

a quick moment to point it out...
hi all! it`s ... *checks time* ... 4:15 AM, & i am still up.
i will sleep soon, i promise!
i just wanted to point out to everyone that i got hippity-hip, groovy-baby with the times & i got a twitter account.
i guess because i love status updates.
facebook status updates don`t do it for me, mainly because i prefer to stay cryptic on facebook, so most of my updates on it are music lyrics.
however i plan on using & abusing twitter.
here is my twih-tah!
you can view my latest updates off to the side, underneath all the links -> --> --->
please, feel free to follow me, & let me know your twitters so i can follow you too. [like the little creeper i am.]
as well, since i mentioned facebook here, feel free to find me & add me if you`d like!
my facebook [this should bring you to the search page with my name there. add me or message me for an add!]
& that is all :)
i`m thinking of making my personal livejournal public [it`s 'friends only' right now, meaning all the entries are pretty much private to the outside world], but maybe not - it all ends up on the blog anyhow.
kisses&love

"Use your indoor voice!"
Last night Natasha and me played the role of the rents for Nadisha, Natasha's sister seen in the photo above. Their mom defintely wouldn't let nadisha go alone but didn't want to chaparone, so she offered to pay the hefty price of 50 bucks for each ticket, to look after Nadisha. I agreed since it was free and Natasha sworn to kill me if I let her go alone.
Once stepping into the crowd we felt suffocated, and all i could think was how could all these preteens be like 6 feet tall?! So we wished Nadisha luck and watched the concert from the alcohol-less bar. We kinda scouted out for her during breaks with no luck for all 6 hours and there was no reception at all in the mosh pit so we ended up only seeing her at the end of the night with sore feet and the inability to speak or hear. All she could do was gush about how it was the best day of her life, without us having to treat her like a pet on a leash and follow her wherever. So I felt it was worth it to see her so happy, though I've officially sworn off having kids, I really don't have the patience for the kind of shit these demon children were doling out...
So musically my favorite acts of the night were Motion city sound track and Phantom planet, but I say with guilt, I did enjoy Panic at the Disco's old songs. Motion City were the best entertainers (so entertaining I actually bought their shirt) of them all. Phantom planet was a huge surprise, I have always liked them, but they sounded awesome live (or so i feel) and I really enjoyed the songs that I've heard for the first time there. So yeah. that was my night. kinda enjoyed it, at times I didn't, but Nadisha made it all worth it with her reaction. I mean I would have been as crazy excited as her if I got to see brand new live...
One of my faves from Motion City Soundtrack: Feel like rain
From the headliner Panic at the Disco: Time to dance (their demo which I much prefer over the newer versions)
and a snippet of my favorite part of the night...

"Why do all the good girls, always want the bad boys?"
Inspired by a line from bathwater by no doubt
Perfect example of a bad boy I love off. Chuck bass, I know he's a creepy, cocky, walking STD. But I'm not going to lie, I LOVE the way he dresses and his endearing evil sneer has me enthralled. I know, its a sickness, but theres more...

Another sinister character I guiltily enjoy... Gaspard Ulliel who happens to play Hannibal. Yeah that's so wrong on so many levels to hear. BUT LOOK AT HIM! Wow I sound sooo shallow, but he has that effect! With hot bad boys like this who needs a knight in shining armor?

So I could have ended with my confession of loving Gaspard Ulliel who played Hannibal (the younger years), but I might as well add Sexy Lexy Luther to my list. Honestly, I love a man in a suit. Never really had the hots for Clark in Smallville, he was too country hick for me. Lex on the other hand was a TOTAL babe...

Last but not least Michael Pitt, playing the parts of a cunning psychopath in Law and Order and in the movie Murder by numbers. I'm not saying I want a sociopath for a boyfriend. It's just that Micheal Pitt pwns the cops in both cases and is so bad ass in his roles.
other bad boys worth mentioning: Taylor Kitsch from Friday night lights, (Jae's pick)Draco Malfoy from Harry Potter, (Natasha's pick)Marilyn Manson.
Who are your Favorite bad boys?
Good girl,
Steph

"we will, we will, rock you!"
i must confess that my life right now has revolved around basketball.
in LARGE amounts.
tuesday`s outfit consisted of a red dress [none of the pics i took quite captured it`s coolness, so i will try again another day] & black belt. they were both in support of my favourite basketball team, the toronto raptors.
wednesday was an exam day. my last one!!! & true to my last post, i procrastinated a whole lot. the exam was at three o`clock, & on that day...
woke up at ten am. went to school, got there by eleven thirty [lucky, b/c my brother dropped me off]. went to eat lunch around twelve thirty. came back to the cafeteria area to study at one-thirty pm. oh, & then i fell asleep at two pm, to wake up fifteen minutes before my exam, & try to write it without having read through my text at all.
i`m so pro.
but exams are over, & it`s summer vacation for me!
summer for me means...
- BASKETBALL!!!
- hanging out with friends :)
- sweating out the water weight
- injuries [every year, i manage to injure myself somehow.]
- cold drinks, food, showers, ice packs, water gun fights, air conditioning...
- a job?
- trying not to get tanned!
today i introduced steph to my friends who live in another neighbourhood from me. they`re my best friends! we hung out, playing basketball & skateboarding...i was very very hyper.
fred makes a layup while everyone watches
fred, crossing people over like mad.
sean, wearing the kanye west - style sunglasses. they`re mike`s.
the dunk contest [aka "an excuse to look like losers" contest]
the ball bounces away....everyone watches.
me, making a weird hand motion! this is so you can see the details on the front of my shirt!
more weird poses, cheesy smiles, & a bit more of the front of my shirt :)
full body, more hand motions, & oh yes, that scooter was attached to me completely!
a full body pic, in which my shadow looks completely awesome! the shirt had one of those cool ties up the side, so that`s the funny brown tail on my hip :)
[EDIT:photobucket is being completely odd right now - i have some other pictures that i wanted to put up, but they`re just not working...i`ll try adding them on later, for the sake of showing you guys my completely random faces & poses. the rest of the pics are up!]
so my outfit is SLIGHTLY lindsay lohan style 't-shirt-&-leggings' combo, but......still.
brown leopard-print leopard t-shirt: gift from my aunt, from the philippines
black theory blazer: gift from my other aunt, second-hand
black leggings: fairweather, 10$
black flats: gift from mark, stitches, 20$
dogtag necklace: 50$, including price for engraving
cheesy smile?: PRICELESS!
i love you all forever & ever!
-jae, SOS
PS: the raptors won their game tonight, which makes me uber happy!!!

april, a love/hate relationship.
yes, it does get warmer. & i enjoy that very much, especially after all the wonderfully dreary days where it`s too cold to be bothered to dress super nicely. it`s warm enough to wear shorter clothes, but not necessarily warm enough to abandon the cute, thin sweaters sitting in your wardrobe, waiting for their few weeks to shine.
according to a wonderfully accurate little poem, "april showers bring may flowers". they also bring out the cute little earthworms, mud &, my favourite, funny little spots all over your best pair of shoes.
in april, all the cute little birds come out, singing & flitting around happily. of course, they bring unprecedented amounts of bird crap, which isn`t always fun [actually, it never is...unless you`re me when i was five & i enjoyed watching birds take craps on car windows...]. along with the birds & furry little animals comes ugly, grosstastic bugs. bugs bugs bugs.
we live by a large field, & every single year there are a million spiders that somehow creep into our house. the ants attack. flies & moths abound. there are centipedes everywhere downstairs. the earwigs crawl around everywhere.
it`s gross & scary. especially for the arachnophobic/melissophobic/BUG-A-PHOBIC-in-general-phobic like me.
april means that the NBA playoffs have arrived. & i love the nba. it`s the boyish side of me that comes out & begins to scream at the television wildly. i analyze every move the players make. i groan when we don`t make the shot. i pound the table & argue a referee`s call, even if he cannot hear me & probably wouldn`t listen even if he could.
today, in fact, was the first game for the toronto raptors. they played against the orlando magic, & while they lost pretty badly, i still support them & hope for the best for their next game. it`s best of seven, so i`m not going to lose hope.
in support of my favourite team [which also happens to be the only canadian team, & they`re from my city XD] i wore this today for dance practice...
sorry i look so crappy in these pictures; after dance practice, we played hide-&-seek & manhunt, so i got a little sweatier than i needed to be.
purple t-shirt: forever21, 7$
red tanktop: some random sidewalk sale, 2 or 3$
black, red, white reebok basketball shorts: gift from boyfriend, ?$
white & black adidas superstarIIk`s [not shown]: gift from sister, 90$ [?]
i`m totally a boy when it comes to basketball.
& yes, i do dance. but not very well.
sigh.

these little things that amuse me...
unfortunately, i`m not one of those people. i refuse to let the stress of exams drag me down into a deep, dark, dank, stinky, big, ugly hole.
& luckily, i won`t be dragged into that hole.
i am a very simple creature. the little things amuse me to no end.
take, for instance, the time when i spotted the machines with the cool things in them, i could have spent ten bucks worth of quarters on those...but i didn`t have ten bucks worth of quarters (boooooo :b) so i couldn`t.
people genuinely find it hilarious how the little things make me so happy. i don`t see why - if people could just find a bit more joy in the small things, then maybe the world would be a better place.
saw these two guys holding hands, & because i love how super-stylish gay guys can be [& how darn HOT they are...it`s not fair that they`re gay, sometimes...], i thought, why not take a picture? unfortunately, the car was moving too much for me to get a picture from the front, but here`s a side/back-view of them. sigh... young love.
lotion hands in a happy face! i have this affinity for making sure my hands are soft, so of course, given an opportunity to make my hand-softening ritual more fun, i do! here is a happy lotion hand, just for you :)
the 100 bus came by, & then a 100D, but i swear for a second it looked like the 1000 bus [which does not exist]. it made me laugh for a whole five minutes!
i`m holding my head on my spoon!!! this photo was a huge laugh for me. i love how cheesy it is!
awesome cool POWER RANGERS CURRY! it`s like...some kind of curry packet with power rangers ruling the front of the packet in their awesome coolness. i couldn`t resist a picture.
[please correct me if i`m wrong about those being power rangers...i grew up with the first set of power rangers - the ORIGINAL ONES. these newfangled rangers confuse me.]
it`s a beef curry donut, which goes to prove my belief that the japanese got it right - when in canada [or north america], market it as something they will eat. market it as...a donut.
a genuine 'turtle bun'. it was a TURTLE!!! & okay...so it doesn`t contain turtle [that would have made me so sad], it was so cute i had to take a picture!
beef croquette buns. actually looked really good, especially sitting next to the ...
"fried noodle" bun. these buns are proof that the japanese will put just about anything in between slabs of bread & eat it. as long as it looks yummy, i would eat it too.
the sign made me completely lose it - "bread crumds". i was dying of laughter at that, because i am a big fan of sites like ENGRISH.COM & this reminded me of it. what a trip!
total proof that i am easily amused by the strangest things.
how about you? what are some things that make your day?
laughter, gummy bears & cookie crumds,
